Obituary of Eino Isak Kann

Eino Isak Kann, 89, Tamarack, died Monday, November 5, 2001 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth. He was born January 23, 1912 in Rice River Township, MN, the son of Isak and Johanna (Palo-Kangas) Kan. He married Ione Moe on May 8, 1943 in Carlton. During the 1930's and the Depression, he worked in Chicago and Woodstock, IL and Milwaukee. He helped build the locks on the Mississippi River in Wisconsin. He also worked on the roads in Southern Minnesota, on threshing crews in Northwestern Minnesota and in the logging camps. Later, Eino was a self-employed logger and farmer, retiring in 1980. He is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Joleen Kay Melser in 1967; sisters, Helmi, Hannah, Hulda, Anna, Sophie, and Liisa; and brothers, Abram, Oscar, Jack and John. Eino is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ione of Tamarack; his daughter, Karen (Joe) Melser of Tamarack and many nieces and nephews. Visitation was Friday, November 9, 2001 from 12:00 Noon until the 1:00 P.M. funeral service in First Presbyterian Church in Tamarack. Interment was in Round Lake Cemetery, Tamarack. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
