I got to know Cliff through the Park Board and construction projects in Cloquet. Cliff was an amazing man. Warm, caring and always friendly! One of the nicest people I ever met. We had some interesting conversations about concrete pipe! He will be missed.

Jill, Jeff and their families.
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. What a sweet, kind and gentle man he was. Now he is at eternal peace with God, surrounded by the love of his life Kay.
I feel honored to have gotten to meet him and know him. I will always be greatful to both Cliff and Kay for their wonderful daughter Jill.
To know Cliff or Kay was to know, their kindness, love, deep faith and complete selflessness. Rest In Peace Cliff, God is smiling now that you are home with Him.
I am so greatful and blessed that our paths crossed.
With sincere sympathies, love and friendship.

Was sad to learn of Cliffs passing when I got the call. I was shocked as I always thought of him as a very healthy guy. We met often at Anytime Fitness center, he was most often on the tread mill. He would stop by our house if he saw me outside and we would visit, some mornings on my way back home after taking my granddaughters to school he would be sitting in his driveway so I would pull in and he would get me a cup of coffee and we would visit. We graduated HS the same year, so same age. Will miss him, a very nice guy, easy to like. He will be missed by many.

My husband and I are forever grateful for Cliff. A few years back our family was forced into a battle that was greater than us a fight of good vs. evil. Cliff was a beacon of light standing in prayer with our community - a God fearing man Knowing he was called to be part of this battle. The Bible talks about angels that live amongst us- I believe your father was one of those angels. Because your father stood up against the evil and darkness our community is a much better place. We are so sorry for your loss - know that Cliff was a very powerful man of faith and our family is very grateful for all he had done for us and our community.

Jeff, Jill and families -- So very sorry to read of your dear dad's passing! Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers! Such fond memories of your mom and dad sharing our fun Cross-Country years. I still have my blue mom's (Esko) sweatshirts that we wore. Your Cliff always gave Butch so much support/I remember that State Meet in track, senior year. He was so excited yelling and cheering Butch on in his 2 mile run/helped him to obtain 3rd place I'm sure. I remember my big van picking up the "crew" at your house for the 6:00 practice in the morning. Precious memories!! Our deepest sympathy and love. Cliff & Marilyn Gilchrist and family!

It was my pleasure to work with Cliff at the Elk River Concrete Pipe Plant in Midway Township from 1976 to the early 1990' s. We worked together on Federal, State, City and County highway and drainage projects. These projects had strict quality and strength requirements on the concrete products used to complete this work. Cliff handled this responsibility with tremendous skill. He taught me a lot about the Concrete Products Industry and I admired his gentile and calm manner.
Our contractor-customers appreciated Cliff for his many timely suggestions that made the difficult job of installing very heavy products on the job easier.
My sympathies go out to his family on the loss of Cliff.

Jeff and Jill,
I was so sad when my dad called me on Sunday to say that Cliff passed away. I have so many good memories of him and your family.
I remember in college him picking me up at Augsburg and going to a Vikings game. Most Sundays after church growing up I would always get his insight on the team.
Most recently I got a good pool lesson from your dad a few summers ago at the senior center in Cloquet. He sure did get good at pool!
Your mom and dad were so good to our family and that will always be appreciated.
My thoughts are with both of you.

Very kind love guy, always smiling and laughing. My kids took to him fast when we would meet for breakfast and coffee. Having him as a pool partner was always the best time, by the end of the night my cheeks and stomach hurst from the laughing.
Cliff will be greatly missed. Love and Prayers to his family..

I was very sad to read the news of Cliff's passing. Cliff and Kay were my lefse buddies at OSLC. They always had smiles on their faces, and great stories to tell of their family and the Vikings. I will roll the perfect round lefse for you, Cliff!

So it was apparently about 48 years ago that 3-year-old me just walked into your house uninvited and started eating breakfast. Cliff and Kay didn't kick me out.
Both of your parents were always great to me growing up. Fond memories of coming over to your house for dinner and team garage sales throughout the 70's...
Really glad I got to spend a little time talking to Mr. Svedahl when I was in town sporadically over the last 6 years. I was really happy to see that he was getting out there, being social and trying to enjoy his life.
I'm thinking about you, prom date.

Jill and Jeff,
I am so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you. I only knew your Dad while he was in ICU but he was special to all of us. He was so kind, pleasant and a joy to visit with. He was so proud of his family. The night prior to his passing I spent hours holding his hand. Even in those dark moments his faith shined through. God's peace to your family.

My sincere sympathy to Jeff and Jill and your families in the loss of your kind and thoughtful father and grandfather.
I got to know Cliff as I had moved in to the neighborhood just a couple of doors down in 2014. It was sometime before I met him as I found out later, he had lost your mom, Kay. Time went on, but he was a good neighbor and it was clear he liked people and was interested in finding who were the new people in the neighborhood. I lost my husband in 2013 so I could relate to what he was going through. We talked about it. It was an easy friendship. I took a little pride in the fact that I could take care of my yard come winter or summer. I would snow blow my driveway and then early one morning here comes your dad. He would take care of my driveway and our neighbor between us. I never asked. He would just come. I would be putting on my boots and winter gear about 7:00 am but, Cliff was already out and about heading my way before I could get out there. He was so kind.
It just won't be the same not to look down our street and see him working on his yard, or see him walking, or biking, or just sitting outside soaking in the warm days. I will miss him.

When one's journey end's you ask yourself, why? Those of us left behind feel pain and sorrow, yet the memories will live on forever and carry us on through. Cliff was a good natured man always willing to lend a hand. Although I haven't seen much of him the last year or so the fond memories of the senior center and powwows and other native gathering will carry on. They say....Out of the deepest grief the most profound love blossoms and the healing grows.
At least now there will be some ( Spam ) at the store.
RIP my friend.
