Obituary of Alice Arlene Harju

Alice Arlene Harju, 80 of Esko passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 in Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. She was born December 29, 1939 in Kettle River to Evert and Delphie Luomanen. She graduated from Barnum High School in 1957. After high school she worked at Northwest Paper until 1959 when she went to work at Diamond Match. She married Linze Broady on September 19, 1959. He died on March 7, 1978. From 1971 until 1984 Alice worked at Conwed. On July 10, 1982 Alice married Roger Harju. Alice was a member of Apostolic Lutheran Church in Esko. Alice was preceded in death by a sister, Aileen Hillstrom and three brothers, Franklin, Floyd and Jimmie Luomanen. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her husband of 38 years, Roger; sons, Randy (Peggy Schmidt) Broady of Cloquet and Daniel (Patricia) Broady of St. Cloud; step-children, Lance (Candy) Harju of Moose Lake, Lee (Kris) Harju of Barnum, Lyle (Lavita) Harju of Wyandotte, OK, Michael Harju of Two Harbors, and Michelle (John) Graham of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Michael, Lynzie and Daniel; two great grandchildren, Aurora and Arlo; and four step-grandchildren. A family only in person funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2020 in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet.
