Obituary of Terry Alynn Peyton

Terry Alynn Peyton, 57, of Saginaw, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family on January 29, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Terry fought hard and his family is proud of his tenacity. Terry was born March 11, 1963 in Duluth, Minnesota to Hamilton and Barbara Peyton. Terry was soft-hearted, humble, gentle, and his family felt his love. He was preceded in death by his father, Hamilton Peyton; his grandparents, John and Fay Peyton and Howard and Jane Shaw; nephew, Todd H. Peyton; and cousin, Josh Shaw. He is survived by his wife, Leah (married, September 23, 1995); mother, Barbara Peyton; brother, Todd (Marie) Peyton; sisters, Tammy (Alan) Nguyen, Tina (Lee) Davis, and Tara (Kris) Bryant; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends as well as his special dog and best friend, Merle, and his cat, Mini-me. Terry had many talents and passions in life. Terry graduated from Hermantown High School in 1981. While in high school, Terry worked at his father's print shop in Proctor, ABC Printers. While attending UMD, he worked at the First National Bank of Proctor. Later, he served on the Board of Directors. Terry became a certified nursing assistant at the Bayshore Nursing Home. Terry thoroughly enjoyed the residents he cared for and the relationships he built with them. He then decided to pursue another career path, by acquiring a Civil Engineering Degree through Lake Superior College-often making the Dean's list. Terry's idea of a perfect day was enjoying his simple and quiet life with his love, Leah, and his fur babies, Merle and Mini-me. Terry loved adventures in nature; he enjoyed the animal visitors in his yard. He baited turkeys and a variety of critters for his viewing pleasure, and… for Merle's entertainment. Their life included relaxing at home, concerts, long car rides, and getting lost and enjoying the adventure of finding their way home. Terry also enjoyed the sports of hunting and fishing-especially debating fishing strategies with his Mom. Visitation will be from 1:00 until the 2:00 p.m. Memorial Service, Saturday, February 6, 2021 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Masks and social distancing will be required.
