Obituary of Joanne Marie Dawson

Joanne Marie Dawson, 75 of Floodwood passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 in her home with her family by her side. She was born November 12, 1945 in Duluth to Joseph and Anne Tokarczyk. She grew up in Gary New Duluth and graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1963. Joanne graduated from Delta College with an Associates degree in accounting. Joanne married William Dawson in Bay City, Michigan in 1991. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Floodwood. While in Floodwood, Joanne worked as the office manager at St. Louis Catholic Church, held many positions at the Northview Bank, and was a Fine Lake Township Clerk for many years. She also worked as a department manager at Kohls. Joanne was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, the Floodwood Lions Club, the Floodwood Business Community Partnership, and was active in the Catfish Festival. She was named the Floodwood Woman of the year in 2014. Joanne enjoyed fishing and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill. Joanne is survived by two sons, Joseph Picconatto and James (Lisa) Picconatto; daughter, Gina (Daniel) Anderson; grandchildren, Halley, Christine, and Courtney Picconatto and Easton, Greer, and Ian Anderson; and sisters, Fran (Tom) Kienlen and Kathy (Emmett) McMahon.
