Obituary of Patricia Jean Kubis

Patricia Jean Kubis left us on Wednesday, Aug. 11th, 2021. Pat was born on June 22nd, 1940 to Murdeth and Gladys Downs of Duluth at St. Luke's Hospital. She grew up in Duluth and attended Denfeld High School, graduating in 1958. Much of Pat's professional career was in bartending, which she did in many establishments in Cloquet. She also spent her later years working in the school service in the lunchroom. Pat loved people, and her choices of employment tended to draw her to work where she could talk and interact with others. Her happy place was her cabin on Round Lake, spending time with her family, her cats, doing yardwork and gardening. All were welcome and her nature was always to help, to welcome and to make others feel better. She was selfless, funny and kind. Pat was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother, Gordon Downs of Duluth; her sons, Russ Lund of Blaine and Steve Lund of Cloquet; six grandchildren, Derek Lund, Christopher Lund, Jordan Lund, Nicole (Bobby) Hullinger, Adam Lund and Trevor Lund; two great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Cameron Hullinger. To honor Pat's wishes, there will be no services. Instead, a gathering of family and friends will be held at her cabin on Round Lake at a later date. She was loved by many and never to be forgotten.
