Obituary of Jean Claire Johnson

Jean Claire Johnson, 88, of Carlton, MN passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton, MN. She was born October 18, 1932 in Hinckley, MN to C.O. and Jayne (Cauwells) Williams. Jean graduated from Carlton High School in 1950. She married Charles "Chuck" Johnson in 1951. Jean worked as a mink rancher with her husband in their family business. Together, they were very active in the fur industry. After retirement they spent their summers at the cabin and wintered in New Mexico and Arizona. Jean was a committed member of her church. She was an avid quilter, sewer and enjoyed reading. Jean was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Johnson; and parents. Jean is survived by her son, Ryan Johnson; daughters, Wynn (Andy) Podratz, Courtney Collins; grandchildren, Caitlin Podratz, Andrew and Abbey Collins; sisters, Renee Dumeney, Sandra Williams; sister-in-law, Karen Miller; and nieces and nephews. Memorial Mass: 11:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2021 with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass all at St. Francis Catholic Church, 509 Sunrise Drive, Carlton, MN 55718. Masks are required.
