Obituary of Rollin Francis Smith

Rollin "Giiwedin" Francis Smith, 77, of Cloquet, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021 in St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. He was born February 28, 1944 in Cloquet to Jay and Lizzie (Bear) Smith. Rollin married Peggy Saylor on November 20, 1982 in Denver, CO. Rollin was a proud band member and worked for the Fond du Lac Reservation. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rupert, Ronald, Roger and Raymond Smith; sisters, Bernice Jarski, Theresa LaPrairie, Audrey Smith, and Valerie Ross; and one granddaughter, Amanda Stolz. Rollin is survived by his wife, Peggy Smith; son, Jason (Ariann) Smith of Cloquet; daughters, Betty (James) Reese of Dayton, OH, Rhonda (Dennis) Peterson of Hermantown, Lesia Berg of Cincinnati, OH, Peggy Susan (Jeff) Rhoden of Huntsville, AL.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Friday, October 8, 2021 also in the funeral home. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery.
