Obituary of Brian Daniel Granlund

Brian Daniel Granlund, 61 of Cloquet passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in Essentia Health in Duluth due to congestive heart failure. Brian was born on April 30, 1960 in Moose Lake to Elmer and Verna (Tuomi) Granlund. He grew up in Cromwell and graduated from high school in 1978. Brian worked for two years after high school for an airline and then returned to run the family dairy farm for five years. He then went to work at USG in Cloquet where he retired after 33 years. He loved four-wheeling, photography adventures and walking the paths on his property with Gloria and travels out west to visit childhood friends. Brian was a friend to all that knew him. Brian was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Carlson; and the love of his life, Gloria Heikkinen. He is survived by brothers, Larry of Cromwell and Robert (Teri) of Makinen; nephews, Neil (Mary) Granlund of Columbia Heights and Ryan (Audrianna) Granlund of Duluth; niece, Lynn (Bill) Nollet of Superior; brother-in-law, Albert Carlson of Meadowlands; three great nephews, Vaughn, Julian and Alex; and of course, his cat Purdy. Visitation: 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service on Saturday, October 16, 2021 in Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. A luncheon will follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Private family burial will be in New Calvary Cemetery in Cloquet.
