Obituary of Cody Wayne Pirila

Cody Wayne Pirila was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and nephew who left this world suddenly and tragically on October 16, 2021, at age 31. His gentle heart and quiet presence will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

Cody was born on June 6, 1990, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where his dad served in the military. He came back to Minnesota with his family at a young age and lived most of his life in Brookston, MN. He graduated from Albrook High School in 2009. He worked at Hansen Adult Foster Care where he enjoyed his interactions with the people served in the program.

Cody loved his dogs and the outdoors and was one of the fourth generation to live on his maternal great grandparents’ land. He took great pride in his apple orchard. Those that knew Cody best would describe him as being very sentimental, treasuring everything given to him, including every greeting card he ever received.

Cody was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Diane Hansen; and his paternal grandfather, Douglas Pirila.

He is survived by his heartbroken family;  father, Mark Pirila of Saginaw; mother, Brenda (Scott Kuhlman) Hansen of Brookston; brother, Timothy Pirila of Saginaw; sister, Kaitlyn (Zac) Johnson of Brookston; his niece, Aurora Johnson and his unborn niece; paternal grandmother, Karen (Ray) Klennert of Swatara; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved dogs, Cleo and Minerva who meant everything to him.

A gathering will be held to remember and honor Cody’s life on October 30, 2021, at Arrowhead Town Hall, Brookston, from 1-4pm
