Obituary of Ellen Louise Simmons

Ellen Louise Simmons, age 96, of Brookston, MN passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Brooke Manor. Ellen was born on January 24, 1927 to Everett and Eleanor Hare in Wilton, ND. She attended elementary school in North Dakota then moved to Burnett, MN where she attended Alborn High School. In 1945 she married Harvey Janke.

Ellen lived in Grand Island, Florida for 25yrs. She moved back to Minnesota in 2015.

Ellen worked as a Dark Room Technician at St. Mary’s in Duluth. She belonged to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Saginaw and St. John Lutheran Church in Florida. Her hobbies included sewing, baking and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; sons, Darwyn, David and Steven.

Ellen is survived by her children, Carol Arntzen and Randy (Carole) Janke; grandchildren; great-grandchildren.
