Obituary of Shirley May Tammi

Shirley M. Tammi, 77 of Cromwell died Saturday, July 3, 2004 in Mercy Health Care Center in Moose Lake. She was born May 3, 1927 in Ely to Stefa and Lempi (Sillanpaa) Janeksela. Shirley graduated from Ely High School in 1945. In the late 1940's she lived in Washington where she was a dance instructor. She married Roy Tammi on May 2, 1975 in Sisseton, North Dakota and they made their home in Cromwell. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Shirley enjoyed gardening, reading, dancing, bowling, doing needlework, speaking Finn, and playing the lottery. Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers, Harlan Janeksela who was killed in the Korean War and Howard Janeksela; grandson, Michael David Black. She is survived by her husband, Roy; daughters, Debra Knight of Janesville, Minn., Terry Ann Black of Cloquet; son, Dale Knight of Duluth; grandson, David Connors; sister, Mabel Sundstrom of Pierz; half-brother, Loren Sever and half-sister, Frances Stevenson both of Washington, and aunt, Ailie Costello of Wright. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 in Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell. Burial was in Eagle Lake Cemetery.
