Obituary of George Walter Maki

George Walter Maki, 84, Esko, died Saturday, October 6, 2001 in Community Memorial Nursing Home, Cloquet. He was born April 23, 1917 in Cloquet, the son of Gust and Hilda (Buskala) Maki. George was the Valedictorian of the 1936 graduating class of Lincoln High School in Esko and he attended Duluth Business University. He worked for The Reinsurance Association of Minnesota and was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Esko. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Emil, Ernie & Arthur Rautio, Fred & Raymond O. Maki; and sisters, Aili (Fred) Bohren and Ellen (Bert) Estlund. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Miriam Maki of Esko and a special niece and nephew, Michael R. Maki of Esko and Kay (Gary) Henninger of Mahtowa and their children Diana, Tara and Adam. Visitation was Monday, October 8, 2001 from 4 - 7 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Visitation continued on Tuesday from 12:30 until the 1:30 P.M. funeral service in St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Esko. Interment was in St. Matthews Cemetery, Esko.
