Obituary of John H. Stillwell

John H. Stillwell, 86 of Cloquet died Monday, September 15, 2003 at Viewcrest Health Center in Duluth. He was born September 25, 1916 in Itasca State Park to John A. and Frances (Nichols) Stillwell. John moved to Cloquet at the age of five from Itasca State Park and attended Leach School. At the age of 15, John's family moved to Thomson. He married Dorothy Goad April 12, 1944 in Thomson. John served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He retired as a mechanic from Diamond Match Company. John was a member of the VFW and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and being in the great outdoors. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 1997; 7 brothers and 1 sister. John is survived by his son, John (Maxine) Stillwell of Cloquet; daughter, Aloha (Vernon) Smith of Brainerd; 9 grandchildren, John, Shane and Stephen Stillwell, Chad Clough, Vernon, Wesley and Samuel Smith, Ruth Nardthong and Frances Doss; and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 20 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. Burial was in Silver Brook Cemetery in Wrenshall.
