Obituary of Nora Mae Garrett

Nora Mae Garrett, 87 of Cloquet, formerly of Floodwood, died Friday, March 15, 2002 in Community Memorial Nursing Home in Cloquet. She was born September 16, 1914 in Fontanelle, Iowa to Mahlon and Maybelle (Camp) Crist. She moved to Floodwood as a young girl and attended the Savanna School. On March 30, 1933, Nora married Caryl Garrett in Floodwood. She lived in many different areas because of her husband's work before returning to Floodwood in 1978. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and she enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting and sewing. Nora was a homemaker in the truest sense. She was devoted to her marriage for 65 years and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Nora was preceded in death by her husband, Caryl on November 23, 1998; her son, Bryan Garrett; grandson, Peter Garrett; great grandson, Travis Wright; and three sisters, Mary, Gen and Carriebelle. She is survived by her son, Delbert of Duluth; daughters, Jean (J.Vernon) Hutchinson of Floodwood, Margaret "Peggy" (Mario) Peverini of Tampa, Florida, Leita (Craig) McEwen of West Fargo, North Dakota; sister, Leita Anderson Lee of Cokato; 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and her dear special friend, Georgia Caldwell of Duluth . Visitation will be from Noon until the 1:00 PM service Thursday, March 21, 2002 in Hope Lutheran Church in Floodwood. Burial will be in the spring in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Floodwood Township. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet.
