Obituary of Wilbur Wilson Bonneville

Wilbur Wilson Bonneville, 82 of Cloquet died Tuesday, January 22, 2002 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. He was born February 18, 1919 in McGregor to Louis and Edna (Gorsuch) Bonneville. He grew up and attended school in McGregor. In the 1930's, Wilbur moved to Milwaukee where he met and married Betty Treffinger on July 27, 1942. They moved to Duluth where Wilbur worked for US Steel. He served as an Army medic in the Philippines during WWII. After the war, he returned to Duluth and again worked for US Steel. During the late 1940's and 1950's and while working for US Steel, he also worked with the FBI. In 1957, Wilbur and Betty purchased a farm and moved to Esko. In the mid 1970's they moved to Cloquet. Wilbur retired from US Steel in 1975. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Wilbur was active with the Cloquet Senior Center, was an avid bridge player and had organized a bridge club in Cloquet. He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Trifilette; a brother, Dick Bonneville and a grandson, Michael Bonneville. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty; his children, Michael (Helga) of Hopewell, Virginia, Steve (Susan) of Bloomington, Yvonne (Jerry) Hilton of Two Harbors, Susan (Sam) Evans of Waverly, Iowa, Gary (Susan) of Chisholm, Deborah Bonneville of Duluth, Phillip (Toni) of Champlin, Paul (Pam) of Brandon, Florida and Mary (Brett) Zimner of Maple, Wisconsin; a sister, Florence Workman of Aitkin; 38 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation was Friday, January 25, 2002 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet Funeral services were held Saturday, January 26, 2002 in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 102 4th St. in Cloquet. Entombment was in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery in Hermantown. Military Honors were accorded by the 1st Battalion 94th Armor. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet.
