Obituary of Barbara Jean Wilson

Barbara Jean Wilson, Ph.D., age 54, of Bolingbrook, IL, died Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. She was born January 17, 1948 in Cloquet. Barbara was a 1966 graduated of Cloquet High School and graduated summa cum laude with her bachelor's degree from UMD in 1970. She graduated with her Master's Degree in 1972 from the University of Minnesota. She later earned her Ph.D. in 1987 from Michigan State University. She was currently employed as a forensic scientist for the Illinois State Police having worked at the Chicago lab and most recently in Joliet. Barbara was a very active member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Naperville where she played in the flute choir, served on the Altar Guild and was the South Campus Coordinator. She was also a member of the Naperville Chorus and the American Association of University Women. Music was a very important part of her life and in her spare time she enjoyed the symphony, travel, animals and gardening. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Harold Nygard. She is survived by her mother, Helen Nygard of Cloquet, MN; two aunts, Hildur Vestin of Cloquet and Laura Jacobsen-Line of Duluth; one uncle, Ernest Vestin of Cloquet; several cousins and friends, Julie Glasner, Rita Mathern and Joanne Fries. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, October 26, 2002 in Zion Lutheran Church, Cloquet. Inurnment was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Cloquet. Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
