Obituary of Alex Maki

Alex Maki, 82, a lifelong resident of Floodwood died Wednesday, February 27, 2002 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. He was born October 14, 1919 in Van Buren Township to Jacob and Elizabeth (Mattila) Maki. Alex married Aili Jaakola on November 10, 1941 in Duluth. He worked for Wood Conversion in Cloquet and was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Floodwood. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aili on April 17, 2001; three brothers, Jack, John and Edward and his sister, Jennie Maki. Alex is survived by his son, Richard (Patricia) of Kingston, New York; a granddaughter, Melissa Maki of Kingston; brothers, Matt (Lorraine) and Henry both of Floodwood. A Funeral was held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 3, 2002 in Hope Lutheran Church in Floodwood. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery in Van Buren Township. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet.
