Obituary of Robert Earl Mittlestadt

Robert Earl Mittlestadt, 66, Cloquet, died Monday, September 2, 2002 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth. He was born October 4, 1935 in Knapp, Wisconsin, the son of William and Olive (Weaver) Mittlestadt. He was a graduate of Superior Central High School and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Robert married Viola Johnson on March 5, 1955 in Cloquet. He had been employed by Potlatch and retired in 1996 after 38 years of employment. He was a member of the Potlatch Quarter Century Club. Robert was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and was very devoted to his wife, Viola. His greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sons Bobby and Merlin; a grandson Cordell Thane Rowe; infant brothers, Dennis and Donald and a brother, Russell. Robert was loved deeply and will be missed by his loving wife of 47 years, Viola, of Cloquet; his children, Debra Cay Mittlestadt and her friend, Del Gulbranson of Cloquet, Robert Mittlestadt and his friend Kelly Kishel of Superior, Angela (Andy) Mainini and a special friend, Rick Celusta of Seattle, WA, Betty Jo (Mark) Zacher of Cloquet, Kari (Steven) Young of Proctor, Timothy Robert Mittlestadt of Cloquet and Emily Mittlestadt and her friend, Loel Seboe of Cloquet; 13 grandchildren, Charissa, Farrah, Zachary, Sheena, Dusten, Nicholas, Rydge, Travis, Tabitha, Erica, Kara Josie, Jack and Samantha; a brother, Wilfred Mittlestadt of New Bern, TN and his children, Billy Ray, Gwendolyn and Jeff and a sister, Ethel Cich of Superior and her children, William, Marvin and Kenneth. Funeral services were held Friday, September 6, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Interment was in Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery, Esko.
