Obituary of Paul Oscar Maki

Paul Oscar Maki, 66, Esko, died Thursday, January 8, 2004 in Villa Vista Nursing Home, Cromwell. He was born March 29, 1937 in Thomson Township, the son of John and Ina (Lyytinen) Maki. Paul was raised in Esko and attended Esko schools for a short time. In later years, he lived with the Ray Olesiak family in Cromwell and then moved to Villa Vista Nursing Home. He had attended Pinewood Learning Center for many years. Paul was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Esko. Paul will be fondly remembered as a genuinely kind, good person. He enjoyed seeing old friends and neighbors and always enjoyed speaking Finnish. He made many friends at Villa Vista and always enjoyed the special music and musicians. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leroy Maki. Paul is survived by a brother, John (Florence) Maki of Esko; three nephews, James of New York City, Perry of Ohio and Robert of Japan and many friends. Memorial services were held on Monday, January 12, 2004 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Esko. Inurnment was in St. Matthew's Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Memorials may be made to St. Matthews Lutheran Church.
