Obituary of Rachel Agnes Nelson

Rachel Agnes Nelson, 86 of Carlton, died Monday, May 24, 2004. She was born March 13, 1918 in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota to Charles and Sara (McTavish) Merrill. She moved to Duluth with her family when she was just a young girl. Rachel was preceded in death by a son, Sherman Rogers; grandson, Oscar Swenson; brothers, Harry, Wayne, Almon, Joe, Charlie, Daniel, Douglas, and John Merrill; sisters, Florence, Gertrude and Mary Merrill. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Swenson of Cloquet, Rawlston Rutter of Inverness, Florida, Rawchel Rutter of Murrysville, Pennsylvania, Reanetta (Gordon) Nikko of Moline, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Alice Merrill of Duluth and Noni Merrill of Rochester; 20 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. Inurnment was in Hillside Cemetery in Carlton.
