Obituary of Leroy Maki

Leroy Maki, 67, of Cloquet, died Wednesday, October 9, 2002 in Miller Dwan Medical Center, Duluth. He was born February 15, 1935 in Thomson Township to John and Ina (Lyytinen) Maki. He was a 1953 graduate of Esko High School and served in the Army from 1958 to 1960. Leroy married Sharon Gustafson in Cloquet on November 29, 1991. He worked for the City of Cloquet Park Department for over 20 years, retiring in 1998. Leroy was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and served on the church Properties board for several years. He enjoyed camping, chopping wood, visiting with people and especially loved pampering his two very special dogs, Boots and Mattie. He was preceded in death by his parents. Leroy is survived by his wife, Sharon, of Cloquet; three step-sons, Mark (Nikki) Kurowski and Lance (Deb) Kurowski, both of Little Falls and Doug (Terri) Kurowski of Randall, MN; two brothers, John (Florence) Maki of Esko and Paul Maki of Cromwell; three nephews, Jim Maki of New York, NY, Perry (Bonnie) Maki and their two sons of Washington Court House, Ohio and Robbie (Mayumi) Maki and their daughter from Nagasaki, Japan; and 11 step grandchildren. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, October 11, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Cloquet. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
