Obituary of Amelia Ida Mackey

Amelia (Millie) Ida Mackey, 82, Cloquet, died Friday, May 23, 2003 in St. Luke's Hospice, Duluth. She was born October 16, 1920 in Automba Township, the daughter of Oscar and Ida (Hentunen) Ketola. On November 18, 1944, she married Clifford Mackey in Moose Lake. They lived in Esko for 24 years and moved to Cloquet in 1987. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cloquet and especially loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing Upwords, Scrabble, doing the daily jumble puzzle, and having coffee with her many visitors. Amelia is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford in 1998; brothers, Alfred, Walfred, Arthur Ketola; sisters, Selma Riihiluoma, Hilma Holmi, Lydia Johnson; great-grandson Jay Morris; and a grandson Benjamin Gerard in February 2003. She is survived by three sons, Rick (Linda) and Alvin, both of Cloquet and Mike (Bonnie) of Esko; seven daughters, Joyce Kolojeski of West St. Paul, Marlene (Glenn) Wirtanen and June (Bill) Gerard, both of Esko, Pat (Joe) Theis of Bloomington, Mavis (Kevin) Kantonen and Jane (Steve) Teasck, both of Cloquet and Beverly (Brad) Nash of Wahpeton, ND; a sister Hilda Maki of Cloquet, and a brother Albert (Edna) Ketola of Osseo, sisters-in-law Marion (Norman) Tout of Esko and Ruth Ketola of Cloquet; brother-in-law Curtis Wilson of Sturgeon Lake; 31 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on Monday, MAy 26 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cloquet. Inurnment was in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Kettle River. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
