Obituary of Lillian Ellen Huttunen

Lillian Ellen (Hanson) Huttunen, 90 of Floodwood died Monday, May 26, 2003 in St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born April 30, 1913 in Brookston to Felix and Sophie (Jatko) Hanson. She married Wayne Huttunen on October 15, 1936. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Floodwood. Lillian had worked in four local businesses in Floodwood. She sold tickets at the Floodwood Fair entry booth for 54 years. The year before she moved to Duluth she was escorted on stage by Archie Heikkala and given a citation and flowers by Arlene Rosemore in appreciation for her dedication and service. She also helped her friends Anne Maki and Taimie Tabell sell tickets to the Prairie Lake Fishing contest. She sold a record 671 tickets and was rewarded with a gift certificate. While living in Duluth she volunteered at the Duluth Depot for six years. Lillian is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, in 1986; sister, Daisy Arro, and brothers, Arthur, Ernest and Hjalmer Hanson. She is survived by her children, Floyd (Shirley) Huttunen of WA, Jane Warren of Duluth, and Carlene (Sulo) Jatkola of Floodwood; grandchilden; Kim Nelson, Danette Olson, Mary Pederson, Sherri Hess, Kara Bugg, Luke Lehto, Hans Warren, Tricia Love, Tammy Wilton, and David Jatkola;14 great grandchildren and one great great granchild sisters, Florence Arro, Hildegard (David)Ricci, Sally (Kenneth)Hilleran; brother Felix Hanson; and also a special nurse and friend Marian (Roy) Suonvieri. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 30, 2003 in Hope Lutheran Church, Floodwood. Inurnment will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Floodwood. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
