Obituary of Arthur L. Mangan

Arthur L. Mangan, 81, Cloquet, died Monday, November 4, 2002 in Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital. He was born May 16, 1921 in Crete, ND, the son of Arthur and Loretta (Adams) Mangan. Art was a graduate of Carlton High School. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre and was assigned to flight crews to keep the planes in flying order. Art married Barbara Kopp on November 28, 1946 in Cloquet. Art was employed at the paper mill and retired after 37 years of employment. He served on the city council for 4 years, had served as president for the local union, was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 171 and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Earl, Robert and Lawrence; a sister, Marion Carlson; and a grandson, Matthew Mangan. Art is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barb; four sons, Greg (Paula), Kevin (Bev), Michael (Sue) and Douglas; four daughters, Kathy (Steve) Simula, Michelle (George) Skutevik, Mary (Tom) Cook and Julie (Scott) Linder; 21 grandchildren; two sisters, Loraine (Dan) Klejwa and Dorothy Engbritson. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 - 7 with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, November 7, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 102 4th Street, Cloquet. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet.
