Obituary of Lorraine May Waseen

Lorraine May Waseen, 78, of Barnum, died Thursday, August 1, 2002 in Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born May 26, 1924 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Wilbert and Olga (Nelson) Gardner. She married Norman Waseen on January 22, 1944 in Barnum. Lorraine was the Barnum Township Clerk for 6 years and had worked at Herb's Bakery for five years. She was a Girl Scout Leader for several years, a member of the Barnum United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Homemakers. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Norman, Russell, Kenneth and Lloyd Gardner and four sisters, Dallas "Toot" Swenson, Virginia "Babe" Smith and Beatrice Sharp. Lorraine is survived by her husband, Norman, of Barnum; a daughter, Linda (Roy) Ober of Cloquet; two sons, Darrell (Maryelyn) of Coon Rapids and Richard (Kathy) of Barnum; seven grandchildren, Theresa Williams, Lisa Traun, Jenni Waseen, Steve Waseen, Tony Waseen, Deb Westerberg and Laura Ober. Memorials may be made to the Barnum United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 5, 2002 in the Barnum United Methodist Church. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Barnum. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
