Obituary of Robert E. Templin

Robert E. Templin, 89, Cloquet, died Monday, September 9, 2002 in Cloquet Community Memorial Nursing Home. He was born August 9, 1913 in Hoskins, NE to Robert and Mary (Daugherty) Templin. He attended and graduated with a B.S. degree from Wayne State Teachers College. Bob received his Master's Degree from Iowa State University. After teaching for 11 years and being appointed principal of the Enola High School, Bob had his calling to go into the ministry where he attended and graduated from Eden Seminary. He served at First Presbyterian Church in Wichita, KS, Kings Highway Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, First Presbyterian in McKeesport, PA, Valley Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale, AZ and First Presbyterian in Mesa, AZ. He served as the educational minister and was very active with the youth in all of the churches. While serving in Scottsdale, he started a pre-school at the church and built all of the playground equipment for the pre-school. He conducted the services at the Presbyterian churches on the many reservations in Arizona. After his retirement, he continued to conduct weddings and funerals and volunteered as a hospital and hospice chaplain and enjoyed visiting people in nursing homes. Bob had a very deep faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and patterned his life after the teachings of the Lord. He believed that every minute of his life should count and had a non-judgmental love for all people. Bob was an extremely talented person and enjoyed making jewelry, woodworking, making stained glass and traveled extensively. He will be fondly remembered as being able to converse with anyone and having a wonderful sense of humor. He married Georgiana "Beda" Juola Johnson on July 1, 1989 in Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Gilmer and four sisters, Fern, Esther, Ruth, Stacia. Bob was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his wife, Georgiana "Beda" of Cloquet; a step-daughter, Christine (Tom) Rubado of McMinnville, OR; a step-son, Jeffrey (Anna) Johnson of Bend, OR; step-grandsons, Grant and Drew Rubado; a daughter, Elizabeth Hoffman of Santa Fe, NM; granddaughters, Heather and Dawn; his mother-in-law, Ann Juola of Grand Rapids and many other family and friends that Bob dearly loved. Services were held on Thursday, September 12, 2002 in Apostolic Lutheran Church, Esko. Interment was in Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
