Obituary of Julia Ann Galatz

Julia Ann Galatz, 39, Carlton, died Friday, August 1, 2003 at home with her family by her side. Julie was born November 19, 1963 to Nick and June Galatz and was a life-long Carlton resident. She attended Pinewood Learning Center and worked at Upper Lakes Foods. Julie was passionate about many things, but she loved being a part of Special Olympics, Community Education Classes, Barry Manilow, Green Bay Packers and talking on the phone with her friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Nick in 1994 and her brother, Larry DeCaigny in 2001. Julie is survived by her mother, June, of Carlton; three sisters, Linda (Steve) Tierney of Excelsior, Janet (William) Adkins of Barnum and Cindy (Jon) Ketola of New Brighton; a brother, Greg DeCaigny of Excelsior; sister-in-law, Susie DeCaigny of Sawyer; 5 nephews, 4 nieces, 2 special great nieces, many relatives and friends and her cat, Casey. A special thank you to Bert, Nancy, Terri, Pinewood Learning Center, Upper Lakes Foods and St. Mary's Hospice for taking such special care of Julie and her family during her illness. Visitation will be Sunday, August 3, 2003 from 4:00 to 6:00 with a 6:00 p.m. prayer service in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Visitation will continue Monday from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Catholic Church, Carlton. Interment will be in New Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Medical Center Hospice Unit.
