Obituary of Kathryn Laura Anderson

Kathryn Laura Anderson, 63, Cloquet, died Sunday, May 23, 2004 in Cloquet Community Memorial Nursing Home . She was born March 26, 1941 in Cloquet, the daughter of Charles and Vienna (Oinonen) Mattinen. Kathy was a 1959 graduate of Cloquet High School and a 1962 graduate of St. Luke's Nursing School. She married Emmett Anderson on August 3, 1963 in Cloquet. Kathy was employed as a staff nurse at St. Lukes Hospital from 1969 - 1970. From 1975 until 2002, she was a staff nurse and Nurse Manager at the Cloquet Nursing Home. Kathy was deeply regarded and admired for her nursing professionalism and service to people by both co-workers and many others whose life she touched. She was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She was a member and leader of the Christian Women's Club and was a very active member and leader of several Bible study groups in Cloquet. Kathy's love of her family and her deep faith were paramount in her life. She also enjoyed sewing, traveling, and flower gardening. Kathy will be fondly remembered for her love of life and joyful spirit, ever present smile, and the joy she communicated in being of service to people. Her courage and faith were especially evident during the past two years in facing her illness.. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vienna Mattinen on January 28, 2003. Kathy was deeply loved and will be missed by her husband, Emmett, of Cloquet; her two sons, Robert (Karen) of Stillwater and David of New York, NY; three grandsons, Bennett, Evan and Parker Anderson of Stillwater; her father, Charles Mattinen of the Cloquet Nursing Home; her sister, Marion Mattinen of the Spruce Home in Cloquet; a cousin, Laura (Randy) Yrjanson of Cloquet; three Godchildren, Karl and Paul and Sarah Yrjanson and many friends and co-workers. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 26, 2004 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 12th and Doddridge, Cloquet. If preferred, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Cloquet Nursing Home.
