Obituary of Vivian F. Luukkonen

Vivian F. Luukkonen, 84 of Cloquet died Tuesday, April 2, 2002 in Community Memorial Nursing Home in Cloquet. She was born March 9, 1918 in Cloquet to Arthur and Amy (Hawkinson) Dobrowolski. She was a survivor of the 1918 fire. Vivian graduated from the Cloquet High School in 1936. She worked at Northwest Paper Company in the finishing room and as a telephone operator. She married Arnold Luukkonen on October 12, 1940 in Morgan Park Presbyterian Church. On October 30, 1941 her son, Arnold Larry, was born in the old Raiter Hospital. Vivian was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church of Cloquet where she was active in the guild. While her son was growing up, Vivian was active in scouting and band parents. She was also very active with her husband throughout the state with the Fire Chiefs Association. She has resided at their home at Round Lake near McGregor from 1981 until returning to Cloquet due to her poor health in 2001. Vivian is survived by Arnold, her husband of 61 years; her son, Larry of McGregor; sister, Audrey (Edward) Asproth of Cloquet and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service was held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 9, 2002 in the Presbyterian Church of Cloquet, 47 4th St. in Cloquet. Inurnment was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Cloquet. Memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Cloquet or to the Carlton County Historical Society. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet.
