Obituary of Ralph R. Chapin

Ralph R. Chapin, 82 of Cloquet died Thursday, November 7, 2002 in Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet. He was born April 16, 1920 in Grantsburg, Wisc. to Earl and Minna (Dahl) Chapin. He graduated from Shell Lake High School. Ralph was a WWII Army Air Force Veteran. On June 21, 1947, he married Louise Seppi in Superior, Wisconsin. Ralph worked as a bricklayer with U.S. Steel for 20 years. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Cloquet Senior Citizens, Cloquet Moose Lodge, Cloquet VFW, the American Legion and the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Ralph enjoyed bowling, golfing and fishing. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard, Alfred and Harvey and a sister, Edna Sislo. Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Louise; daughter, Carolyn Chapin of St. Paul; son, Ralph (Sue) of Duluth; four grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Ralph was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed. A memorial mass was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2002 in Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet. Military Honors were accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Inurnment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet.
