Obituary of Mark Joseph Sandstrom

Mark Joseph Sandstrom, 16 of Esko, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 8, 2003 after suffering injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on January 12, 1987 in Duluth, the son of Steve and Beth Sandstrom. Mark grew up in Esko and attended St. Paul's Academy through the 8th grade. He attended the Carlton High School his 9th grade year and was currently in the 10th grade at Wrenshall High School. Mark was the center on the Wrenshall Basketball team. He was also on the Wrenshall-Carlton-St. Paul's Track Team. Mark was a member of the Friday morning Bible study at school. He was active at the Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle, and its youth and ministry groups. Mark was currently a member of the MN Glory AAU Basketball team for 16 year olds and last year was on the Duluth AAU Basketball team for 15 year olds. Mark was preceded in death by his paternal Grandfather, Joseph Dolensek. He is survived by his parents, Steve and Beth Sandstrom; his brother, Paul; and sister, Elissa Sandstrom all of Esko; paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Mary Jane Sandstrom of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; maternal grandmother, Margaret Dolensek of Eveleth; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 11, 2003 in the Wrenshall High School Gymnasium with Pastor Rich Doebler officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle Building Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet.
