Obituary of Bruce Alan Neff

Bruce Alan Neff, at the age of 47 passed away Thursday, April 1, 2004 unexpectedly in his home in Cloquet. He was born on March 5, 1957 in Minneapolis to Don and Cleo (Nutt) Neff. At the age of two, he moved with his parents to Circle Pines, MN where he attended grade school and was active in sports. At Forest Lake High School, Bruce lettered in football, basketball and wrestling. He went to the state tournaments in wrestling twice. He also received the "Order of the Arrow" in Boy Scouts. During the summer, Bruce helped on the family tree farm and enjoyed working with his uncles on their farm in Isle. Bruce attended Mankato College for three years before joining his brother, Daniel, at Pipestone Vo Tech for a meat cutting course. That brought him to Duluth where he had been a meat cutter with Super One for the past 25 years. Bruce married Sherri Rhoades in 1988 and together they had three children. His greatest joy was taking care of and spending time with his children. Bruce assisted in Cub Scouts and helped coach Cloquet wrestling. He was anxiously waiting to take his son deer hunting this November. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Neff; grandparents, Clarence and Elmeda Neff, Clarence and Dollie Nutt; uncles, Harold Nutt, Clifford Nutt, Ira Nutt, Maynard Neff, and Don Alexon; and an aunt, Viola Nutt. Bruce is survived by his children, Clifford, Owen, and Alexandra Neff all of Cloquet; his mother, Cleo Neff of Isle; two brothers, Daniel (Wendy) of Barnum and Marsh of Salon, Minnesota; niece, Andi Neff and nephew, Trevor Neff both of Cloquet; uncle, Leo Nutt of Isle; aunts, Fern Alexon and Arvilla Neff both of Northfield, Vernice Reicks of Lawler, Iowa; cousins, David Nutt of Isle, Nancy Dallenbach of Waterloo, Iowa, Kristie Kirkpatrick of Chisholm, and Laurie Neff of Minneapolis. Visitation will be Saturday, April 3, 2004 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, April 4, 2004 from 1:00 until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet.
