Obituary of Ellen M. Kahara

Ellen M. Kahara, 88, Cromwell, died Sunday, March 7, 2004 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake. She was born December 26, 1915 in Cloquet, the daughter of Ivar and Lempi (Koivisto) Maki. She married Kaino Kahara on June 16, 1946 in Cloquet. She and her husband operated a dairy farm for many years in Cromwell. Ellen had also worked for 12 years as a machine operator for Diamond Brand Company in Cloquet. Ellen was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell and served on the altar committee for 25 years. She loved flowers, enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kaino on October 7, 1997; her brother, Ero Maki; a niece, Darlene Nicholson and her beloved parrot, Peter. Ellen is survived by her brother- and sister-in-law, Unto (Doris) Kahara of Cromwell; seven nieces and nephews, Terry Maki of Carlton, Bruce (Judy) Kahara of Mississippi, Arnold (Bonnie) Kahara of St. Cloud, Sue (Ken) Koivisto of Cromwell, Trudy (Ken) Okerman of Cloquet, Maryellen (Bob) Zuk of Crystal, MN and Kathy (Mohammad) Boudlali of Elk River and several special friends and neighbors. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 12, 2004 in Bethany Lutheran Church, Cromwell. Spring interment will be in Eagle Lake Cemetery.
