Obituary of Audrey Emma Gustafson

Audrey Emma Gustafson, 75, of Cloquet died Thursday, March 11, 2004 in her home. She was born March 28, 1928 in Mahtowa, MN to Arthur and Helen (Bakken) Friberg. Audrey was a 1946 graduate of Cloquet High School and a graduate of Hibbing General Hospital School where she graduated with an RN degree. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Raiter Hospital in Cloquet and then at the Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital for several years. Audrey was a very active member and a Past President of the Cloquet VFW Ladies Auxilliary. Audrey's family was her first love and ultimate priority. She enjoyed camping and will be fondly remembered for having campfires burning day and night no matter what the temperature or weather. Audrey loved to cook at the deer shack and was exceptionally proud of her Norwegian heritage and always kept in contact with her family living in Norway. She was preceded in death by her parents. Audrey is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Bud, of Cloquet; two daughters, Cheryl (Douglas) Leno and Joy Gustafson, both of Cloquet; five sons, Kerry (Julie), Jim (Heidi), Kirk, Kevin (Muriel) and Jay, all of Cloquet; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A Celebration of Audrey's life was held on Monday, March 15, 2004 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the VFW Home.
