Obituary of Elna Amelia Oja

Elna Amelia Oja, 87 of Cloquet died Friday, July, 23, 2004 in Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet. She was born March 21, 1917 in Clark Township in Aitkin County to John and Maria (Koivumaki) Toivonen. She married Emil Oja in 1936. They farmed for a short time before moving to Superior where Elna worked for the J.J. Newberry Company for many years. She moved to Esko in 1957 and worked at the Esko and Cloquet Coop Stores until retiring in 1977. In 1974, Elna moved to Cloquet. Elna was preceded in death by her husband, Emil in 1960; a sister, Mayme Nynas, and a brother, Eino Nikkila. She is survived by two nephews, Glen (Diana) Nynas of Saginaw and Roger Nynas of Minneapolis; one niece, Marilyn (Richard) Carlson of Munger. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Tamarack.
