Obituary of Richard William Borin

Richard "Dick" W. Borin, 71, of Minneapolis, formerly of Cloquet, died Monday, July 15, 2002 in Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born June 14, 1931 in Cloquet to Waino and Jennie (Lamminen) Borin. He graduated from Cloquet High School in 1949. He served in the National Guard, U.S. Air Force and the Navy. Dick worked as a shipmate on the Great Lakes Ore Boats from 1952 until 1958. He moved to Minneapolis in 1960 where he worked for the city of Minneapolis Sanitation Dept. for 25 years. Dick married Della Zarling on January 7, 1974 in Souix Falls, SD. He spent his retirement years traveling with his wife. He also enjoyed fishing and watching sporting events. Dick is survived by his wife, Della of Minneapolis; two daughters, Jeanie of Duluth and Bonnie of Minneapolis; two sisters, Rosalyn (Paul) Pohjola of Cloquet and Lillian Powers of Mount Lake Terrace, Wash.; two brothers, Melvin (Ivy) and Arnold (Lorene) both of Cloquet; step-children, Darlene Danielson, Sandra Jozen, Donald, John and Thomas Fredrick; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service Sunday, July 21, 2002 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cloquet. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet.
