Obituary of Bernice Marie Johnson

Bernice Marie Johnson, of Cloquet died on her 95th birthday, June 29, 2011 in the Inter-Faith Care Center. She was born June 29, 1916 in Cloquet to John and Martha Bahen. She worked at the Tulip Shop for serveral years before she married Clarence Johnson on March 21, 1936. Bernice worked at Diamond Match of 25 years retiring from there in 1973. She also worked for a few years at Skogmo's. She was a member of the Eagle's Club, the Cloquet Senior Citizens, and a former member of the Women of the Moose. Bernice enjoyed china painting and doing ceramics. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Anna Trettel and Stella Hattig; brothers, Joe Bahen, Bernard Tillman, and an infant brother. She is survived by one son, Dale (Katharine) Johnson of Cloquet; one daughter, Karen (Gordon) Carlson of Cloquet; sisters, Josie Hattig of Portland, Oreg., Helen Johnson of Duluth and Donna (Jerry) Baker of Cloquet; three grandchildren, Sheri (Scott) Sorenson, Scott Carlson, and Angela (Wes) Demory; and five great grandchildren, Jared, Brooke and Mackenzie Sorenson, and Zachary and Ashlynn Demory; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held on Friday, August 12, 2011 in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. A time of lunch and fellowship followed in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Inurnment was in Sandy Lake Cemetery in Blackhoof Township.
