Obituary of T.M. Leino

T.M. "Tim" Leino, 78 of Kettle River, died peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2003 in Cloquet. He was born March 19, 1924 in Kettle River to Matt and Jennie (Johnson) Leino. He graduated from Cromwell High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Tim was a gyro compass technician and achieved the rank of Electrician's Mate, 2nd Class. He served aboard the U.S.S. Lumen in the South Pacific. After the war, he started out as a fireman for the Northern Pacific Railroad, where he worked his way up to Engineer. He retired in 1984, after working for 38 years. Tim was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Thompson in 1977. He married Dorothy Oman in 1984 and she passed away in 1991. Also preceding him in death are his brothers, Leo and Edsel. He is survived by his children Roxy Goodwin and Sally Leino both of Shakopee and Ron (DeAnna) of Superior; grandchildren, Jim and Jennie Leino, stepchildren, Cory (Kris) Oman and Renee (Fred) Beiderbecke; step grandchildren, Brian and Matthew Oman and Jason Beiderbecke; brothers, Edwin (Bernice) and Hugo both of Kettle River; sister, Vivian (George) Tuomi of Kettle River; sister-in-law, Maxine Leino of Kettle River and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2003 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. Military Honors were accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard.
