Obituary of Lydia A. Johnson

Lydia A. Johnson, 95, Carlton, died Friday, September 20, 2002 in Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital. She was born September 14, 1907 in Kalevala Township, the daughter of Oscar and Ida (Lipponen) Ketola. Lydia married Carl E. Johnson in 1935. In her younger years, Lydia enjoyed camping, fishing and knitting wool socks. In her later years, she enjoyed visiting with her friends at Pineview Apartments. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; three brothers, Alfred, Walfred and Arthur Ketola; one sister, Selma Riihiluoma and a half-sister, Hilma Holmi. Lydia is survived by a brother, Albert (Edna) Ketola of Osseo; two sisters, Amelia "Millie" Mackey and Hilda Maki, both of Cloquet; sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. in Northland Funeral Home followed by a luncheon in the funeral home Fireside Room. Interment was in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
