Obituary of Alexander Savage

Alexander Savage, 97, of Cloquet, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2003 in Cloquet Community Memorial Nursing Home. Al was born in Kingston, PA on March 2, 1906, the son of Frank and Anastasia Savage. Early in life he moved to Detroit, MI where he worked for the Ford Museum and Greenfield Village of Dearborn, MI as an electrical engineer until he retired in 1973. He moved to Cloquet to make his home in 1979 when he married Helmi Swanson. Al was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cloquet. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elizabeth; three brothers, Tony, Joseph and Percy; a sister, Julie Savage and a step-son, Robert Vostry. Al is survived by his wife of 23 years, Helmi, of Cloquet; a stepdaughter, Wanita Roe; four stepgrandchildren, Robin, Alan, Tracey and Deanna; 10 step great grandchildren; a his stepson's wife, Alta Vostry and her son, Melvin, both of Palmer, Alaska, and nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania, Alabama and Minnesota. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 25, 2003 from 12:30 until the 1:30 p.m. funeral service in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Cloquet. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cloquet. Memorials are preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
