Obituary of Dwight Thomas Warner

Dwight "Tom" Warner Jr., 59, of Duluth died Thursday, October 17, 2002 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth after a short courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 22, 1942 in Duluth to Dwight and Ruth (Dalton) Warner. He grew up in Saginaw and graduated from Proctor High School in 1960. Dwight was a logger before going to work for the Minn. Hwy. Dept. in 1966. He was with the Highway Dept. for 12 years. In 1975, he moved to Cromwell where he farmed until 1985. After farming, he ran the feed mill in Kettle River for four years and eventually returned to logging in 1988 where he owned D&D Firewood until 1995. Dwight then worked as a handyman for Kalligher Reality. He married Geraldine Linskie on April 29, 1986 in Duluth. Dwight was a jack of all trades; he could fix anything and was an excellent wood worker. He made many wonderful things including furniture. He was also an avid bowler. He bowled in the Arrowhead Bowling league on Monday nights for 25 years. He bowled in a mixed doubles league on Saturdays at North Country Lanes. Dwight loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting but most of all riding his 4-wheeler in the woods at Taft. Dwight was preceded in death by infant twin daughters, Diane and Carol. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine "Gerry" Warner of Duluth; sons, Mark (Denise) of Saginaw, Todd and Scott (Doreen) both of Cromwell, Tyson (Christine) of Wright and Ryan of California; children by marriage, Renee Switzer and Rick (Marti) Switzer both of Duluth; brothers, Clarence (Lil) of Little Falls, Gary, Daryle, Henry, Leroy (Drinda), Keith (Kay), and Clayton (Tina) all of Saginaw; sisters, Ruth Elaine Burchett of Cloquet, Penny (Barry) Marlow and Gail Gilbertson both of Proctor; 12 grandchildren, Luke, Julie, Kyle, Carleigh, Crystal, Molly, Keegan, Rickie, Quinlan, Alexis, Caleb and Drake; his mother-in-law, Ruby Linskie of Duluth and sister-in-law, Marlene (Greg) Anderson of Duluth and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on Monday, October 21, 2002 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet.
