Obituary of Eunice Verona Sandwick

Eunice Verona Sandwick, 88 of Carlton died Thursday, November 28, 2002 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. She was born May 28, 1914 in Bruno Village, Minn. to Andrew and Margaret (Anderson) Peterson. She grew up in Wrenshall and graduated from Wrenshall High School in 1932. She married Olaf Sandwick on August 29, 1936 in Cloquet and they made their home in Iverson. Eunice will be remembered for her strong spirit, quick wit, steadfast ways and the best pie crust ever. Eunice was preceded in death by her husband Olaf in 1972; three brothers, Phillip, Albin, and Vernon Peterson; two sisters, Wendella Bissell and Edith Muller. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn (Ronald) Youngren of Carlton and Barnum; grandchildren, Lee (Rick) Youngren-Manty and Chris (Julie) Youngren both of Carlton; two great grandchildren, Jasper and Andrew Youngren; four step great grandchildren, Mike and April Thompson and Adam and Lance Manty; sister-in-law, Dorothy Peterson of Wrenshall and several nieces and nephews. Eunice's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton and St. Mary's Hospice for their loving and compassionate care. A memorial service was held on Monday, December 2, 2002 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. Inurnment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cloquet.
