Obituary of Lawrence Clemens

Lawrence "Lorry" Otto Clemens, 61, of Alborn, died Monday, September 23, 2002 in St. Luke's Hospital. He was born May 28, 1941 in Jamestown, ND, the son of Herman and Minnie (Dietz) Clemens. Lorry was an Army veteran, serving from 1958 - 1961. He was the lead singer and guitar player for a number of bands, including Reno Band, The Tempests, Lost Express, Dusty Rose, The Other Guys and many others. He had the honor of playing for Johnny Cash, Johnny Lydell and Dave Dudley. Not only did he enjoy his music, he also enjoyed making marble game boards. Lorry will be fondly remembered as living life "his way" and wouldn't have missed any of it for the world. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman, Louis and Ferdinand Clemens. Lorry is survived by a son, Shane (Jennifer) Clemens of Cloquet; three daughters, Bridget (Brian) Seeland of Saginaw, Babette (Michael) Walkowiak of Duluth and Shawndette (Christopher) Dallmann of Brookston; 9 grandchildren; three sisters, Minnie Noel, Lavella Solem and Blanche (Edward) Karjala, all of Cloquet; a brother, Les (Margaret) Clemens of Cloquet; the band members and a special friend, Kathy Wark of Cloquet. Memorial Services were held on Friday, September 27, 2002 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Inurnment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cloquet.
