Obituary of Donnabell Faye Kilpela

Donnabell Faye Kilpela, 73 of Cloquet died Thursday, June 5, 2003 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. She was born October 12, 1929 in Castana, Iowa to Howard and Lillian (Abbott) Davis. She grew up in Wrenshall. She married Louis J. Young on October 25, 1946. She lived in Palo where she was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Palo and worked at the Arrow Shirt Factory in both Eveleth and Virginia. Louis preceded her in death in 1978. She later married Roy Kilpela in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and they made their home in Cloquet. Donnabell was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, traveling, knitting, crocheting and doing crafts. In addition to her first husband, Donnabell was preceded in death by three children, Kevin Young, Louis Young Jr. and an infant at birth. She is survived by her husband, Roy; son, Keith (Anne) Young of Gilbert; daughter, Janice (James) Nelson of Frazee; step-children, Gary (Carol) Kilpela of St. Louis, Missouri, Brenda Stokke of Proctor, Vivian (Scott) Younger of Anoka and Darlene Hill of Cloquet; sisters, Maxine (Willard) Cook of Carlton, Luella Zimmer and Bernice Mandernach, both of Sac City, Iowa, Nelma (Ellis) Byriel of Lyyton, Iowa; brother, Marvin (Ramona) Davis of Lakeville; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday (today) in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. Visitation will continue from Noon until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service Saturday, June 7, 2003 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cloquet with Pastor Tom Olson officiating. Burial will be at 5:00 p.m. in Rauha Cemetery in Palo, Minnesota. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet.
