Obituary of Tina Pearson

Tina Pearson, Carlton, passed away January 5, 2003 in Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton at the age of 90 years and two months. She was born November 5, 1912 to Kalle and Hilda Hakkarainen in Thomson Township where she lived until she married Roy Pearson on June 9, 1934. Tina was a witness to and a survivor of the 1918 fire. In 1935, she and Roy bought a farm on West Chub Lake Road, south of Carlton, where she lived until moving to the care center in 1998. Tina enjoyed raising her family, doing farm work, gardening, sewing, crafts and playing games. She was also a nature lover and enjoyed planting trees and feeding wild birds and animals. Tina was a wonderful listener and will be fondly remembered as being a very kind lady with a wonderful sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy on December 7, 1977; a brother, Walter and two sisters, Lillie Runser and Hilda Bergstrom. Tina is survived by three sons, Dale (JoAnne) Pearson and Blaine (Marce) Pearson, both of Carlton, and Don (Bev) Pearson of Cloquet and Arizona; one daughter, Gail (Dutch) Thornton of Moose Lake; one grandson, Scott (Sandra) Pearson and one great granddaughter, Ella Pearson of St. Paul; a special nephew, Milan (Sandy) Huard of Duluth and their children, Jessica and Matthew and many other relatives and friends. Tina's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Inter-Faith Care Center for their wonderful care of her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army or Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton. Funeral services were held on Friday, January 10, 2003 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Carlton, followed by a luncheon in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
