Obituary of Rurick A. Kemp

Rurick A. (Rudy) Kemp, 83 of Floodwood died Thursday, August 15, 2002 in St. Lukes Hospital in Duluth. Rudy was born November 30, 1918 in Mullan, Idaho to Olii and Ida (Kalliokoski) Kemppainen. He had lived in Floodwood since the age of five. Rudy served in the 66th infantry division during WW II in the Rhineland receiving a Bronze Star & Good Conduct Medal. Rudy had worked as a heavy equipment operator for Hyman-Michaels Co. before his retirement. He was a member of VFW Post #3979 in Cloquet and The Assemblies of God Church in Floodwood. Rudy was preceded in death by his wife, Mae in 1997. He is survived by three sons, Dan (Judy) Wiljanen of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Daryl (Lori) Kemp of Chisholm and Richard (Bea) Kemp of Floodwood; one daughter, Nancy (Len) Karkiainen of Floodwood; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held, Tuesday, August 20, 2002 in the Assemblies of God Church in Floodwood. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Van Buren Township. Military Honors were accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet.
