Obituary of James Frederick Adelsgruber

James "Jim" Frederick Adelsgruber, 73 of Wright died Sunday, April 7, 2002 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth from complications following surgery. His family was by his side. He was born August 29, 1928 in Fair Haven, Minnesota to Otto and Esther (Johnson) Adelsgruber. Jim was a veteran of WWII serving in the South Pacific. He married Madelyn Gisler on October 6, 1951 in Wright. Jim worked construction and farmed in rural Kettle River until his retirement. He moved to Wright in 1993. Jim served as the Mayor of Wright until the time of his death. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Cromwell/Wright and served as sexton for the Wright Catholic Cemetery. Jim enjoyed flying and at one time he owned and flew his own Cessna. He enjoyed hunting in the Colorado and Montana mountains with his sons, brother-in-law or by himself. He was an avid snowmobiler. Jim also enjoyed having coffee and playing pool with his buddies. Jim was preceded in death by a son, Wally, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Madelyn; his children, Gregory (Barbara) of Ramona, California, Michael of Kettle River, Mary (Vern) Nordlund of Kettle River and James (Deborah) with the US Air Force stationed in Portugal; sisters, Toni (Karma) Black of Las Vegas, Vivian (Ed) Stoupa of Freemont, Nebraska, Bernadette (Joe) Skaba of Duluth, Pat Peterson of Cromwell and Ida (Arden) Larsen of Boise, Idaho; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11:00 AM Friday, April 12, 2002 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Cromwell/Wright. Military Honors were accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Inurnment will be in the Wright Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet.
