Obituary of Ted Austin

Ted Austin, 60 of Floodwood, died Thursday, December 11, 2003 in Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Superior. He was born May 30, 1943 in Superior to William and Mary (Willcocks) Austin. At the age of twelve, Ted moved to Floodwood to the home of Alex and Julia Randa, his foster parents. He graduated from Floodwood High School in 1962. Ted was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. After his discharge from the service, he did auto body work and then worked in construction until 1979. Ted later worked at Starlight Satellite Systems Inc. and eventually became an owner in the company. He was a member of AA for 17 years and was very proud of it. Ted always enjoyed his morning coffee and breakfast at Bridgemans with his friends. Ted was preceded in death by his daughter, Desiree in 2000 and the mother of his children, Carol Austin on November 28, 2003. He is survived by two sons, Scott (Deb Senarighi) Austin and Trever (Holly Enlund) Austin both of Carlton; brothers Arnold (Marcia) of Monroe, North Carolina, Buster (Therese) of Blaine; sister, Yvonne Gilbertson of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; foster-brother, Ron (Susie) Randa of Floodwood; three grandchildren, Blake, Chad, and Kasey Austin. He is also survived by his special friends Helen Snyder, Tabi Tollgaard, Courtney and Eric Kramer and their mother Teri. Visitation will be from 10 until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service Monday, December 15, 2003 in St. Louis Catholic Church in Floodwood. Military Honors will be accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Burial will be in the spring in Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Floodwood. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet.
