Obituary of Gary “Woody” Lee Quick

Gary "Woody" Lee Quick, 81, of Kettle River passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Duluth.  He was born on March 27, 1942, in Dazey, ND to Melvin and Gladys Quick. Gary graduated from Dazey High School in 1960. He married Wendy Oja on December 13, 1986.

Gary served in the US National Guard. He was a hard worker and had many experiences in life. He was a farmer, truck driver and welder who helped build the St. Louis Arch and many more water towers. Started working for Northland Constructors, becoming shop foreman until he retired.  He decided to become an entrepreneur and opened his own garage, sawmill, and restored tractors.  

Gary was a part of the American Legion and the 49ers He enjoyed hunting, trapping, baseball, and golf.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Trina Quick; sisters, Loretta Schneider and Jeanette Salander; brother, William Quick

He will be missed by his wife, Wendy; son, Nathan Quick; stepson, Micheal Walli; stepdaughter, Marsha (Joe) Arnold; grandchildren, Eric Arnold, and Megan (Lucas) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Sage, and Fielder Johnson; brothers, Douglas and Alan Quick and numerous nieces, nephews.

A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held at Woody’s Shop, 2496 S Finn Rd, Kettle River, Minnesota on Thursday, August 3rd, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. until dusk.
